POETRY: I make poems with, or read poems for, the participant

I can bring a performance of favourite poems tailored for each person. Or we can start from a smorgasbord of short poems, choose favourites to enjoy, then possibly use them as models to create poems about our own lives. I can record the poem we make, so the participant will have it to share as a short Zoom video.

I am delighted to search out poems known to the participant and offer a well-rehearsed reading to them. Equally, a poet, period or theme can be the basis for a performance.

PLAY-READING

Together we read a script. We can play all the parts ( comedies like Charley's Aunt or The Importance of Being Ernest offer lots of fun.) This can be a one time, or an activity over several sessions. Maybe Shakespeare or Moliere appeal to a participant with a love of theatre. A two-handed read offers scope for LOTS of acting, and Zoom allows me to pull up a script and to move in and out of text to talk about what we are reading. It also permits enlargement of text to make reading easy. This is also a great option for a group of 3 or 4 people to join in on Zoom over several sessions.

SING ALONG, or songs for the season.

I love popular songs and folk songs. I bring a selection from each decade, offer them as solo performance or as a singalong where the partner will enjoy that. Again Zoom lets us pull up words if we want to. Often song choruses are the sound-track to our lives, and trigger stories and shared conversation. I am happy to bring a selection of favourites, or to make a program tailored to the season or the particular choices of the partner. ( I will sing a capella, so can offer a tenor through mezzo soprano range.) The joy of finding a partner knows a harmony line is true pleasure.
